IT Specialist

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for maintaning the systems hardware, operating systems, and software systems of the company.
Will assist the MITPH IT Head with technical issues, research and deveopment as well as projects that ensure the continual innovation of the organization.


Reports to: MITPH IT Head
Duties and Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for maintaining the systems hardware, operating systems, and software systems of the company. This individual will assist the MITPH IT Head
with technical issues, research and development as well as projects that ensure the continual innovation of the organization.

1. Operations and Support
a. Performs daily monitoring of the system, software and hardware such as verifying the reliability and availability of all servers, webtools,
hardware and software.
b. Ensures system security at all times.
c. Performs regular file archiving if needed.
d. Create, change or delete user accounts per request.
e. Provides usual IT support on queued trouble tickets.
f. Ensures that the computer networks are in good standing and the LAN/WAN network connectivity of the company is adequate.
g. Repair and recover from hardware and software failures.
h. Ensures the confidentiality of the systems, networks, server passwords.
2. Maintenance
a. Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis as per necessary.
b. Performs performance tuning on hardware and software if needed.
3. Provisioning
a. Contribute to system standards.
b. Develop and maintain systems that will be useful for the company.


Qualifications:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENT:
Education- Bachelor's Degree in any of the following; Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science.
Experience- Preferably 1-4 years experience in IT/Computer-Network/Systems/Database admin or equivalent.
Physical Demands- N/A

Preferred Skills, Knowledge, Abilities and Competencies:
A. Linux- proficient with Linux, ability to read and understand log files, user management and security, OS lockdown, DNS, FTP.
B. Windows- active directory, DNS, NTFS permissions, system administration.
C. Security- application security, operating system, intrusion detection.
D. Software- basic PHP Coding/scripting, database-MS SQL, MySQL, HTML, Web Server Management.
E. Networking- Expert troubleshooting skills, TCP/IP, VLAN.
